January 6, 2002 As for the Japanese New Year, there is a traditional tradition. We make cooking to have the New Year at the end of the year. They are decided traditionally. All cooking includes a meaning. They are nervous about omens. I made the cooking at the end of the year, too. I intend to introduce them. 1 is a rolled omelet, and it is called datemaki. It is the food which prays for studies because this resembles a Japanese old book. 2 is a rolled omelet, too. This is called itonishiki. This is made with an egg and expresses treasures because the color is golden. 3 is Japanese traditional Japanese cake. This is White-Eye. A special craftsman makes this Japanese cake. 4 is mashed sweet potatoes containing sweetened chestnuts. It is called kurikinton.Source says as a symbol of wealth from a golden thing. 6 is kamaboko. The thing which I ground a fish and smashed it and processed. Red and white are the colors that an omen is good in Japan. 7 is kobumaki The thing which I bound a fish with seaweed and boiled. It is assumed that an omen is good by resembling pronunciation to express joy in Japanese. 8 is tatukuri I boil a small fish indulgently. There is a meaning that farm products seem to be rich. Besides, it is different by each district. We celebrate the New Year by these cooking in Japan. A pair of timor sparrow that I failed in breeding at the end of the year has begun to lay eggs again. They use nest materials than before this time. I look forward to it very much. Another pair began laying eggs, too. They are Sekkei and Tukasabotan. This pair has not bred. I am glad when they breed well. 2 lay eggs currently. A foot of timor sparrow of one scalpel broke it. It depends on my carelessness. I reflected very much. I received a medical examination of Rev. veterinarian, but the treatment was not complete. Therefore I treated her by oneself. There is a little Rev. veterinarian who can examine a bird in Japan. It is the problem that Japanese bird keeper always feels. There is often that bird keeper knows a lot on a bird than Rev. veterinarian. My timor sparrow will become cheerful in around 1 week.

January 17, 2001 Broken timor sparrow of a foot fixes a foot. She just spends it for two weeks more. The rib is repaired by roughly around 10th, but it is not complete. We must think about influence to ligament and the nervous system of circumference of a bone. A broken foot is fixed with putting up a supporting pole and a paper streamer. There are a little steroid ÅAcalcium medicine and vitamin compounds prescribed by Rev. veterinarian gives medication now. Three pairs of timor sparrows lays eggs currently. Two pairs of the us have not let breeding be successful. I expect it. However, one pair does not concentrate on breeding. I gave nest materials, but the condition that is not so earnest continues. She let an egg drop and broke it. There is only egg one by the result. One pair of distinction is the self female which bred. She was born and laid eggs for the first time. As for the result or her, one laid eggs. Her partner makes a nest with the material eagerly. People excited about psittacosis currently in Japan. The breeding person in charge of one bird park was contagious. Perhaps an appropriate breeding method was not done. As for the breeding of a bird, there is danger of infection of psittacosis. People having so wrong knowledge may increase. Actually, danger of infection does not exist if we do of an appropriate keeping method. Or We do of contacting with a bird adequately. I want you to have right knowledge. I consider it to be an important thing to a person to touch an animal with.

January 27, 2002 I took off a plaster cast of timor sparrow which hurt a foot. Because the place that I broke was an ankle, I am anxious about influence to her nervous system. The rib was repaired. Her grip is not yet complete. She does a rehabilitation for a while. Breeding timor sparrow is earnest. They warm an egg so that they hardly turn up. They will hatch during near periods. A pair without having bred began laying eggs again. They have broken an egg the last time. The cause was me. Because they warmed an egg, I thought not to stimulate them. I stopped that I did a freed bird of them in a room. The thing seems to have been stress for them. I gave up their breeding and reopened a freed bird. Then they reopened laying eggs. I reflect on it. I realize that breeding of timor sparrow is difficult simultaneously. Breeding of java sparrow is simple for me. Never think in the same state. I intend to go carefully. And I look forward to that they hatch.
